WHAT TYPE OF SELF-PUBLISHING COMPANY IS UIMPACT PUBLISHING GROUP?
How we work with authors is very unique. We strongly believe that your story matters of our goal is to work alongside you to help you. The creation and production of our authors' books is second to none. From start to finish, the author plays a central role in approving all content cover to cover to ensure their book is exactly as they desire. All of our authors retain ownership to their copyright as well, so the work remains entirely in the author's name when working with UImpact Publishing Group.
HOW DOES THE BOOK-PUBLISHING PROCESS WORK?
Before we accept a manuscript we like to prospective authors first to determine what your publishing goals are. It is a great way for us to get to know each other. Based on our conversation if each party decides to move forward, the submission process is listed below.
If you have a manuscript you would like us to consider for publication, please fill out form on the Inquiry for Publishing page. (All fields are required in order for the form to be accepted.)
If you do not have a manuscript to submit to us but would like more information on the possibility of UImpact Publishing Group to publish your work, please fill out the following information and click the "Request Info Only" button.
Please note that UImpact Publishing Group does not accept sexually explicit material. Therefore, you may be asked to remove sexually explicit material or language should you decide to work with us.
If you choose to submit by postal mail or electronically, those manuscripts will not be returned and will be deleted or destroyed if not accepted for publication. Please retain at least one copy of your manuscript when submitting a hard copy or electronic version for our consideration and review.
If you are under the age of 18, you must have parental approval to submit your work, and you must have that permission stated on the first page of your manuscript along with the name and contact information of your guardian. We will call to verify.
I KNOW IT’S RECOMMENDED 8-12 AUTHORS, BUT WHAT IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 8 AUTHORS INTERESTED? WOULD THE FEE JUST INCREASE TO COMPENSATE FOR LESS AUTHORS?
You can definitely have as many as you want in your book. If you have less than 8 to ensure that we cover our costs for editing and design, we would have to raise it to at least $247 if it is less than 8.
WHAT FORMAT DO I HAVE TO USE?
This is your book. You are able to use any format you want. If you want your authors to answer writing prompts versus interview style question that is totally fine. What we suggest is providing them a sense of direction as to what to do. In our experience co-authors like to have prompts to work from.
DO I NEED AN ISBN NUMBER TO SELF-PUBLISH WITH UIMPACT PUBLISHING GROUP?
We will assign your publication an ISBN number. If you already have one prior to submitting your manuscript, you would submit it to us along with the document we will need to move forward.
HOW DOES THE EDITING PROCESS WORK?
The question that we are asked the most is whether editing is included. Yes, we have a great editor on our team who will edit your book. They will send you the edited chapters, your authors will have an opportunity to review. Upcoming their review, they will submit any additional changes or additions. They editor will then review their chapter once more. We also make sure to do at least 3 rounds of edits.
HOW ARE BOOK SALES SPLIT?
In the publishing industry, a group book is a shared cost amongst all the authors. When the book is placed on Amazon, they don’t share who sold books, so it is challenging to split costs. At this time we do not split royalties. We have published over 30 groups books, and authors have used their book as a marketing tool for when they speak, they had groups purchase them, they had their own audience purchase them, and that is normally how they generate compensation. It has always worked well. We provide a book marketing suggestion list for each author going forward.
It is important to ensure that you share this with your authors beforehand. While most people are aware of this, you will have some people who are new to the process. So we encourage you to inform them up front of this process.
HOW DO WE ORDER THEM ONCE THE BOOK IS COMPLETE?
You will be able to order them at wholesale. We will create an account for you with a program that will be used to place your book on Amazon. From that program you will be able to purchase your book at wholesale.
Purchasing books are optional for your co-authors. They are generally $4-$5 depending on the size of the size of the book and the price of the book. Please note this is an estimate only.
WILL MY SELF-PUBLISHED BOOK WITH UIMPACT PUBLISHING GROUP BE RETURNABLE?
At this time, we are not set up for returnable books. However, we are presently in the process of offering this option to our clients.
